Chatswood 1 (Cohen Rinas and Rene Sun) defeated Tennis Valley 1 (Declan Langreiter and Eamon Cachia) in Division 1.
Redlands 2 (Marvin Ma and Mark Vander Velde) took out Division 1 over St Pius 2 (Riad Calvert and Victor Calvert). Teams from schools such as Reddam, Knox, Barker and St Aloysius also took part, as well as teams from coaching organisations Online Tennis and Match Point. The competition is now run in two timeslots, with the younger players 8am – 10am, and older players 10am – 12 noon.
Finals were played at Talus Street. It was a great atmosphere. Top honours in mixed Division 1 once again went to Lane Cove (Sue Woodward, Sarah Gillespie-Jones, Graham Metcalf, Daniel Farrar, Marcel Svatos and Glenn Knox) with a convincing victory over Kooroora (Peter Johnson, Amrit Lall, Kelly Blake and Sally McBride).
Division 1 in the 12.45pm doubles was won by Kooroora (Tony Reynolds and Tom Reynolds), defeating Roseville Lawn (Tony Grana and Jarryd Stevens) while Division 1 3.30pm was also won by Kooroora (Yury Samokhvalov and Andrew Stevens) over Tennis Valley (Laurent Lamaletie and Sherwin Lucas).
Top division in the 8am timeslot went to KWTA (Udit Dhanda and Ursh Kharbanda) who defeated Primrose Park (Connor O’Sullivan and Ari Carboni). Special mention goes to Primrose Park who have now grown their Sunday morning comp teams to 6, 3 of which qualified for finals.
Night Comp has been growing steadily with a great standard of play on all three nights. This year broke all previous records for participation, with a total of 407 teams participating throughout the year which equated to 971 players. Div 1 Monday Night Pairs was won by Captain’s Call (Rowan Lucas and James Teoh), defeating Springwater II (Peter Cody and Graham Spring). The top division in Tuesday singles was won by Jonathan Osman over Val Mitry and the mixed comp was another win to The Dysfunctionals (David Keogh, Gary Nadjarian, Suzi Litchfield and Michelle Purcell) defeating The Aliens (Paul Ferguson, Randall Polivka, Anna Cosio and Sue Fitzpatrick).
Wednesday Triples has proved to be very popular and of an extremely high standard with the top division being won by Eclipse (Michael Cant, Ivan Koprivec, Mark Spring and Maurice McAveney) over the Tri Hards (Manoj Dawson, John McIntyre, Matt Woodrow and Luke Trovato). Division 2 contained 9 teams this comp, played over 9 rounds with Killara Lawn 5 (Rudi Engelbrecht, David Hodges, James Ji, David Wakeman and Sean Walsh) emerging the winners by first past the post.
